Learn to Skate Hockey- Level 1
Learn to Skate Hockey classes are designed for new skaters with little to no skating experience. This class will set the foundation for success by teaching the fundamentals of skating and balance.
Additional Information
Typical Ages: 3-9 years old
Equipment Needed: Helmet & Gloves (Bike Helmet is okay)
Skate Rental Included
*Parents allowed to help coach w/ signed wavier and helmet
Learn to Play- Little Blackhawks- Level 1.5
Little Blackhawks is designed for skaters who have successfully completed our Learn to Skate program and are ready to take the next step into hockey.
This program is ideal for players who are transitioning from Learn to Skate and need to purchase their first set of full hockey equipment. The cost of the equipment is included in the program fee, which is why the registration price is higher than other classes.
After registering, each participant will receive an email with a link to order all of the required hockey equipment.
Players who already own a complete set of hockey equipment should register for Learn to Play – Level 2 instead.

Typical Ages: 4-9 years old
Equipment: Full equipment is provided in cost of the class.
*Registration closes 10 days prior to make sure all participants received there gear prior to start of class.
*Players can only take this class one time

Learn to Play- Level 2
Learn to Play Hockey classes will continue to build and expand on the skating fundamentals taught in the Learn to Skate class and also introduce basic puck handling skills.
Beginner Skills Include:Swizzles (F/B), slalom, snowplow stop, strides (L/R), 2 foot jump while moving, turns (L/R), backward glide, backward march.
Intermediate Skills Include:C-cuts, forward crossovers, two hand push w/puck, passing, stationary stickhandling, wrist shot, 2 foot hockey stop.

Typical Ages: 4-13 years old
Equipment Needed: Helmet with Full face mask, hockey gloves, shins guards
Pre-req: Pass learn to skate or with hockey directors approval
All players receive an Ice Hawk jersey
Cross Ice Skills & Games - Level 3
This program is for players that have passed our Learn to Skate & Learn to Play Hockey classes and is designed to prepare skaters for team play in an environment that fits their skill level.
This class will meet two days per week consisting of one skills day and one cross ice game day. Skills will be set up similar to a team practice. On game day players will be divided into teams and play cross ice games.

All players will receive an Ice Hawks Practice Jersey & Socks

What is the difference between Little Blackhawks program and Learn to play level 2
Little Blackhawks is a sponsored program through the Chicago Blackhawks, which includes brand new gear head-to-toe for all participants. This is a great first option to get all the equipment and then transition into our Level 2 after. Classes will teach the same elements. You are only able to participate in this program once.
