Jr. Ice Hawks Mite Program
The Jr. Ice Hawks teams are the first step into real league play and competitive games. Teams will play in the Tier III Northwest Hockey League (NWHL) and/or the Tier II Chicago United Hockey League (CUHL). Each league features a seeding round, regular season, and league playoffs. Players should expect 50% of the games at home and 50% of the games played away at different locations across the Chicagoland area.

League Details
Our Jr. Ice Hawks teams will compete in the Chicago United Hockey League (CUHL) against other Tier II mite-level clubs in the Chicagoland area.
CUHL SEASON FORMAT
Seeding Round (6 Games): September 11 - October 18, 2026
Regular Season (18 Games): October 30, 2027 - February 14, 2027
Playoff Play-in Games: February 15 - February 18, 2027
Playoff Round Robin Games: February 19 - February 23, 2027

Additional team funds may apply or be collected for but not limited to... exhibition games, extra tournaments, coaches hotel/travel/meals, coaches gift etc...
All extra funds are documented by the team manager and reported to the club
Frequently Asked Questions
If I played for another CUHL team in fall can I join the Jr. Ice Hawks this year?
No. Unfortunately due to league player movement rules, we are unable to accept any new players to the Jr. Ice Hawks organizations for 8U who played in CUHL last year. In year 2 (2027-2028) we would be able to accept "import" players. If you played in the NWHL or Learn to Skate program last season however, we are able to accept these players.
Does everyone make a team?
No. Players will be evaluated and placed on teams based on skills. Players who may not be ready for this level of play/competition will be asked to join our Level 2 or Level 3 classes. Rosters spots are limited, but we will do our best to accommodate all players.
Do I need to register for USA Hockey?
No. The 8U Jr. Ice Hawks teams will play in the CUHL which is sanctioned by AAU. Players will need to get an AAU for the Fall 2026-2027 season. 8U Players will be given more information on AAU Membership once teams are selected.
