Coaching Requirements

To be eligible to coach, USA Hockey and the Coaching Education Program requires you to maintain both current registration and certification. Registration must be renewed online annually.

Pre-Participation Checklist: The following steps must be completed before participating in any team activities:

• USA Hockey Membership: Register online annually ($54 plus affiliate fees)
• Background Check: Complete the required screening (fee applies)
• SafeSport Certification: Complete the required USA Hockey SafeSport Training module (renewed every two years)

***MUST BE COMPLETED BY DECEMBER 31 OF THE CURRENT SEASON***

1. Attend the required Certification Clinic: All incoming coaches begin at Level 1 and are limited to one clinic per season (September 1 to December 31). Find and register for a clinic here (registration fee applies).
2. Complete Age-Specific Modules: Take the required online training for your team's specific age level (fee may apply). Log in to access your modules.
